Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has confirmed a fresh issue for Marcus Rashford following the 1-1 Premier League draw against Fulham on the road on Sunday.
The Red Devils played with plenty of attacking intent against Fulham at Craven Cottage, but could not return to winning ways after some fantastic goalkeeping from Bernd Leno.
Leno made three exceptional fingertip saves during the game, and it made a big difference as United’s winless streak extended to three matches across all competitions.
In the same game, Rashford was substituted in the 77th minute after he was struggling with an apparent concern. In his post-match presser, Carrick confirmed that the winger had to be brought off.
The 45-year-old added the Englishman had a ‘bit of an issue’, and he remains unsure about his condition.
He told BeIN Sports (via Manutd.com): “We had to bring him off as he had a bit of an issue. I’m not sure [when asked if he was alright].”
Rashford flourished during his season-long loan at Barcelona last season, registering 14 goals and 15 assists from 49 appearances.
However, he has been nowhere near that level for the Red Devils and was one of the worst performers against Fulham on the road.
The left winger, described as ‘world-class‘ on Barcelona’s official website, struggled to impose himself in the game. He was guilty of squandering a clear-cut scoring chance in the first half.
Rashford also managed just one successful dribble and was eventually substituted in the 77th minute with an apparent groin injury.
The United graduate has been picked by England head coach Thomas Tuchel for four Nations League matches in the coming weeks.
Rashford will be assessed in the next few days, and it won’t come as a surprise if the attacker withdraws from the Three Lions squad.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Sesko was ruled out of the game with an injury of his own. United should provide an update on him soon.
