Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has now reacted to the admission that Brazil forward Matheus Cunha made after the Fulham match on Sunday evening.
Former Wolves ace Matheus Cunha ensured that Manchester United fans had something positive to hold on to going into the extended international break.
The 27-year-old United star came to the Red Devils’ rescue late in the second half at Craven Cottage by scoring the Red Devils’ all-important equaliser at the weekend.
Speaking after United’s 1-1 draw with Fulham, Cunha was critical of the Red Devils’ performance and felt the Premier League club lacked “energy” in the contest.

Michael Carrick addresses Matheus Cunha’s remarks and Man Utd fans’ response to Kobbie Mainoo coming off the pitch
“It is hard,” Matheus Cunha told Sky Sports, before adding: “They put in more energy than us; we cannot accept this.”
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick avoided a third consecutive defeat across all competitions after the Red Devils’ struggles early in the new season. United lost 1-0 to 10-man Manchester City at Old Trafford this month before Brighton knocked the Red Devils out of the Carabao Cup last week.
Speaking at his post-match press conference on Sunday, Carrick insisted that United’s performance late in the second half against Fulham showed the opposite of what Cunha had suggested.
“I don’t think the way we finished the game lacked energy; it didn’t look that way to me,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“I was really happy with the way we finished the game; we looked really strong and we were pushing. I don’t think that’s an issue.”

United legend Carrick heard the Red Devils supporters’ frustrations on Sunday evening when he made the decision to sub Kobbie Mainoo off in the second half. Kobbie Mainoo had started in the heart of the midfield and the 21-year-old England international made way for Mason Mount in the 80th minute of the clash.
When asked if he heard the boos of Man Utd fans at Craven Cottage, he told the press: “There’s always going to be certain reactions when you make changes.
“Kobbie played well, but we were at the stage of the game where we needed to try to make something happen. Kobbie understands that; I spoke to him after the game about it and he is absolutely fine.
“He’s all about the team and what’s for the best. Everyone’s a little bit emotional and the supporters are, too, they are desperate for us to do the right thing. I don’t take any offence to it [the booing]; we just try and keep doing the right things to get back into the game. The support was unbelievable, right the way through.
“They stuck with the boys and at least we gave them something small to take away from it. I’m sure there’s more to come.”
United will now return to Premier League action on 10th October, as the Red Devils will welcome Tottenham to Old Trafford after the international break.
