Manchester United have the next three weeks to reflect on their poor start to the season before the Premier League resumes after the international break. They have only claimed one victory in their opening five games, having failed to beat the likes of Everton, Fulham and Hull City in the early part of the campaign. Their dismal form has increased the pressure on Michael Carrick to turn things around or risk being axed, just months after earning the manager's job on a permanent basis.
United's performance in Sunday's draw at Fulham was particularly concerning, given the lack of urgency and cohesion on display. A three-week break could be exactly what they need to regroup and reconsider their approach into October and beyond. It will also give their injured players time to recover ahead of United's next game against basement boys Tottenham.
Rashford could face an extended spell on the sidelines after Carrick confirmed that he picked up an injury during the draw against Fulham.
The severity of the problem is yet to be revealed. He is part of the England squad for the upcoming international fixtures, but The Athletic are reporting that he is likely to withdraw from the group.
United will be hoping to call on Rashford when they face Tottenham in their next league game, as long as the issue isn't serious.

Mainoo played 80 minutes against Fulham but is also thought to be carrying an injury, meaning he is another potential absentee for England this month.
It's not clear what the problem is, but there is believed to be a chance that he will drop out of Thomas Tuchel's squad to focus on his recovery.
Again, with no clear timeframe on his latest injury setback, United will hope that Mainoo recovers in time to be involved against Spurs.

Sesko was a surprise absentee from the United squad against Fulham, having aggravated the shin injury that saw him miss the end of last season.
Speaking at full-time, Carrick explained: "It was a pain in his shin. We’re not sure with him yet. He felt a bit of pain after the game. We’re assessing him. He definitely wasn’t ready for today."
It remains to be seen how long Sesko will take to recover, with the Tottenham game likely to be targeted for his return to the pitch.

Amad is yet to appear for United this season after suffering an ankle injury before the start of the campaign. It was reported at the time that he would be sidelined for up to six weeks.
Updates on his recovery have been few and far between, but Carrick said after the Carabao Cup defeat to Brighton that Amad was looking at weeks, rather than days, on the treatment table.
With three weeks until the Premier League gets back underway, Amad will be hoping to step up his recovery during the extended international break.

The towering defender has not played for United since late 2025, when he picked up a lower back injury against Crystal Palace.
He later underwent surgery, which led to him missing the World Cup. De Ligt travelled with the United squad for the Fulham game, although he wasn't named in the matchday squad.
However, his presence with the group suggests that he could be closing in on a return to action over the coming weeks.

Ugarte has been out since the summer after suffering a serious knee ligament injury while representing Uruguay at the World Cup.
He is expected to be sidelined for most of the season and is currently in a period of rehabilitation, with his return to the pitch still a long way off.

United's third-choice goalkeeper has missed the entirety of the campaign so far with an ankle injury sustained in pre-season. As of yet, no timeframe has been placed on his return.
