Manchester United were left frustrated with two decisions during their weekend draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage. The Red Devils suffered their latest frustrating result away to the west London outfit, with a deflected Matheus Cunha strike salvaging a draw late on.
However, United had been complaining that Cunha was fouled by Calvin Bassey in the build-up to Fulham's opening goal, with the Brazil international asking for a foul from the referee. Whereas when United were chasing the match, the visitors wanted a penalty after the ball hit Bassey's hand inside the penalty area.
The Video Assistant Referee checked the incident, but deemed Bassey's hands to be tucked into his body, and therefore didn't recommend a review. Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher told Sky Sports News: "I don't think it's a penalty. His hands are tucked into his body. With the distance, I don't think he has a chance of getting out of the way. Two massive decisions in the game go the way of Fulham. I think it flies in the face of what Arbeloa said."
Meanwhile, ex-Premier League star Jay Bothroyd said of the Cunha incident: "Absolutely no chance [a foul], it is embarrassing from Cunha, he needs to be stronger, it is just poor and lazy attacking play, he is trying to win a foul when what he should be doing is being brave, coming short and trying to protect the ball."
