Manchester United went into the international break still with just one Premier League win to their name, drawing with Fulham on Sunday, and they left it late to avoid defeat at Craven Cottage. The Red Devils trailed until the last minute of the game, when Matheus Cunha scored to level.
There is now real concern surrounding United and Carrick, who many are beginning to doubt as the long-term appointment.
Pressure will be on when United return from the extended international break, but Carrick will welcome back some players thanks to the length of this break, which gives injured players the chance to get back to action.
Here we round up the United injury latest,
Matthijs De Ligt
De Ligt has been battling his way back from a lower back injury. He was said to be in contention for the Fulham game, but he didn't quite make it back, so the Dutchman is fully expected to return after the break.
Return date: After the international break
Amad Diallo
Manchester United's Amad Diallo reacts against Man City
Diallo has been dealing with an ankle injury that was always going to keep him out until after the break. He should be back for the first game on the other side.
Return date: After the international break
Manuel Ugarte
Ugarte ruptured his ACL during the summer, and after undergoing surgery, he was ruled out for a long period. It would be a surprise to see Ugarte this season, with most ACL's taking a year or very close to it for full recovery.
Return date: Next season
Benjamin Sesko
Manchester United's Benjamin Sesko celebrates scoring vs Everton
Sesko picked up a niggle recently that saw him miss the Fulham game. Carrick explained this week: "He just felt a little bit of pain after the game the other night [vs BHA]. We're assessing that. Hopefully, it's not too bad, but we will have to see." Sesko will almost certainly be back after the break.
Return date: After the international break
Tom Heaton
United's third-choice keeper has been dealing with a hamstring issue. He is expected to be back after the break.
Return date: After the international break
Marcus Rashford
Rashford was brought off during the Fulham game, with Carrick explaining: “We had to bring him off as he had a bit of an issue. I’m not sure [when asked if he was alright].” Rashford's return date must go down as unknown for now, but by the sounds of it, the forward will be expected back after the break.
