Tottenham have yet to win a Premier League game this season.
Roberto De Zerbi has been criticised from all corners of the world after being backed with many of his top targets in the summer, and that pressure is now starting to tell. He saw his side lose yet again at home on Saturday, which means Tottenham Hotspur have not won in the Premier League this season.
It is certainly not the kind of start that many expected Spurs to have after the squad rebuild they performed over the summer. Spurs spent more than £300million bringing in ten new signings in the summer transfer window, with De Zerbi allowing 17 players to depart. The Lilywhites are staring down the barrel of another relegation fight for the second season running.
TalkSPORT pundit slams former club Tottenham after embarrassing league position heading into the international break
Sunday’s game between Fulham and Manchester United was the final one before we entered the campaign’s first international break. This international hiatus is a longer one than normal, with the September and October breaks combined into one, meaning there is no domestic football for the next three weeks.
This allows Roberto De Zerbi, his coaching staff and the club’s officials to evaluate everything and come up with plans to arrest the team’s slide after the break. After Fulham drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Craven Cottage, Tottenham entered the break bottom of the table thanks to their inferior goal difference.
Jamie O’Hara cannot get his head around that fact or just how bad his former club have been so far this season. The talkSPORT pundit has admitted he ‘can’t even deal’ with how poor Tottenham are right now under De Zerbi.
“Spurs are actually bottom now for three weeks can’t even deal with how bad we’ve been,” Jamie O’Hara wrote on X.

De Zerbi has to plot a way to get Tottenham out of the mess
Played five, won zero, drawn two, lost three. Goals scored two, goals conceded eight. That is the pathetic record the Lilywhites have so far this season. After back-to-back 17th-placed finishes in the Premier League, it appeared that things could not get much worse for Spurs. But five games into the new campaign, things are already looking grim.
Several players have underperformed, while some continue to lack top fitness levels. The new signings are still adapting and getting to grips with De Zerbi’s system and tactical demands. The 47-year-old has admitted that individual training plans have been prepared for some players, such as James Maddison and Dominic Solanke, in a bid to work on their fitness levels and physical output.
De Zerbi, who took responsibility for the Villa defeat, retains the total faith of the club’s hierarchy, but they will be forced to make a strong decision if results don’t improve after the international break. Such is the unforgiving nature of Premier League football.
