Manchester United boss Michael Carrick is under serious pressure going into the extended international break after his side’s 1-1 draw against winless Fulham on Sunday.
The Red Devils were beaten 1-0 by rivals Manchester City in the derby earlier this month, before slumping to a shock 3-2 defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup, despite racing into a 2-0 lead against the Seagulls.
Carrick’s side then fell behind at Craven Cottage on Sunday when Lisandro Martinez put through his own net, before Matheus Cunha’s deflected late strike earned United a much needed point.
It remains to be seen whether or not United will stick with Carrick beyond the international break, but in the meantime it has emerged that the Manchester club are interested in a Premier League star.
As per TEAMtalk, both Manchester United and Liverpool are showing interest in Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.
Mitchell’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign
Mitchell, 27, is a product of the Eagles’ youth system and has been a regular for the south London side for several seasons now, making his 250th appearance in all competitions during their goalless draw against Leeds United on Sunday.
The left-back is said to be on the radar of both the Reds and the Red Devils, with his current contract at Selhurst Park set to expire at the end of the season.
Clubs outside of England could therefore agree a pre-contract with the full-back in January, but the report suggests that both Liverpool and United are also considering attempts to sign the player in the new year.
With less than a year remaining on his current deal, January would represent Palace’s final chance to demand a fee for the player before he potentially leaves as a free agent next summer.
