Lewis Hall has revealed why he chose to remain at Newcastle United this summer despite reported interest from Manchester United.
Manchester United were keen to sign the young left-back as a potential long-term replacement for Luke Shaw. The move ultimately failed to materialise, while the 21-year-old has continued to impress at St James’ Park.
Hall made 47 appearances across all competitions last season, starting 36 of those matches, and finished the campaign with one goal and two assists.
Speaking to Chronicle Live, Lewis Hall said the speculation surrounding his future never became a major distraction and instead viewed the interest as recognition for his performances.
“No, honestly, it didn’t,” Hall said when asked if the constant transfer talk was difficult to deal with. “I guess whenever you’re linked to another team, you know that you’re doing something right.”

Hall explained that his commitment to Newcastle remained clear throughout the summer, particularly after seeing the direction of the club under the manager.
“I guess it’s just a credit to your own performances and how you are as a player, how you are as a person,” he said. “I took that as a positive, but at the same time, I knew how much I love playing here and I knew that since the manager came in, I knew the ambitions and what we wanted to achieve.”
“After not many conversations, not many training sessions, I knew that the manager was going to be really good for this club,” he said. “I knew that as a team, bringing in new players and improving the squad was really important and as soon as we did that, it was a no-brainer really to sign.”
