Manchester United could have received a significant boost ahead of their Premier League showdown with Tottenham Hotspur on October 10.
According to The Athletic, Tottenham defender Pedro Porro is expected to be out of action for around a month with a hamstring injury.
The 27-year-old has subsequently withdrawn from the Spain squad for the upcoming international break and is now likely to miss the clash at Old Trafford.
Archie Gray has deputised at right-back in his absence and is now poised to play against the Red Devils.
Porro is an experienced full-back and could have caused problems with his superb attacking capabilities.
The Spaniard has registered 10 goals and 24 assists in 156 appearances across all competitions for Spurs.
In comparison, Gray has just six goal contributions in 89 appearances.
The 20-year-old is very talented, but he is yet to establish himself as a key player at Spurs.
Gray has primarily featured at full-back this season but has also been deployed as a wing-back and in midfield.
United head coach Michael Carrick will be desperate to see his side rediscover their best form when they return from the international break.
The Red Devils have endured a disastrous start to the 2026-27 campaign, winning just one of their opening five Premier League games and currently sitting 12th in the table.
Carrick could look to attack through United’s left flank and target Gray’s inexperience.
Marcus Rashford has occupied the left-wing role for much of the season, but Carrick may now need to consider making a change.
Matheus Cunha could offer a different threat from the left, particularly given his ability to receive the ball, drive at defenders and create openings for his team-mates.
