Manchester United have joined Inter in asking about River Plate goalkeeper Santiago Beltrán, even as the Argentine club work on extending his contract.
Manchester United have joined the chase for River Plate goalkeeper Beltrán, adding to interest already shown by Aston Villa and Manchester City, according to [_ESPN Argentina_](https://x.com/ESPNArgentina/status/2102445946365776212?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) journalist Gustavo Yarroch.
Villa and City have since settled on other options, signing Zion Suzuki and Gerónimo Rulli respectively as their first-choice or backup goalkeepers, but United's need is more pressing after failing to land any of their targets over the summer, including Paraguayan goalkeeper Orlando Gil, who ended up joining Lille instead.
Yarroch says River are currently negotiating a contract extension with the 21-year-old, whose existing deal runs until December 2027, and that talks are progressing well.
That has not stopped the club preparing for his eventual sale, though, with Yarroch reporting that the negotiations already "firmly" factor in the possibility of Beltrán moving to Europe "sooner rather than later".
Two clubs are said to be actively asking about him: "One club is Italian, the other is English. One club is Inter Milan in Italy, the other is Manchester United."
United now find themselves competing with Inter for a goalkeeper who has drawn admirers across Europe in recent months, with River appearing prepared for a sale even as they work to secure his signature on new terms in the meantime.
