**[Manchester United](https://sportwitness.co.uk/manchester-united/)’s Patrick Dorgu has admitted he wants to nail down one position at Old Trafford this season.**
The 21-year-old has been a regular for Michael Carrick’s side this season, making six appearances in all competitions so far.

But he has once again found himself being used in varied roles, with three appearances at left-back and three as a left winger.
That’s been the story of his Manchester United career to date. Across 54 appearances to date he’s managed 26 as a left midfielder, eight as a left-winger, seven as a left-back, four as a right midfielder and right-winger. It’s a similar story for Denmark.
That makes him a useful asset for managers, but also a hindrance for a player trying to establish himself on both levels. And he now admits that he would prefer to have one fixed position this season.
_“I’d prefer to have one fixed position. It makes things easier to work on during training. But many players today can play multiple positions,”_ he told [Tipsbladet](https://www.tipsbladet.dk/nyhed/generelle/hybridrolle-udfordrer-dorgu]).
_“I just want to be on the pitch, regardless of the position. I started my professional career as a left-back, so that feels most natural to me, but I can also play the attacking roles I do at United.”_

**Manchester United competition**
---------------------------------
Competition for places at Manchester United in particular is fierce. Dorgu currently finds himself fighting Matheus Cunha, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw for playing time. It’s something he’s more than aware of.
_“There is stiff competition for places from talented players,”_ he added.
_“There’s a left-back (Shaw) who has been at United for 12 years. And then there’s Rashford, who has just returned from Barcelona, where he performed well._
_“We also have Cunha, who performed well during the months I was injured. So, there are three really good players who have done well in the Premier League._
_“It’s a challenge, but competing against such good players is also what can make me a better footballer. I can learn from them, and when I get the chance, I need to show the coach that he can rely on me.”_
