Shamrock Rovers' striker Michael Noonan's departure for Nottingham Forest at the beginning of next year has been confirmed.

Nottingham Forest confirmed that the 18-year-old attacker had signed a pre-agreement with the club will be joining the Premier League side in January.

Shamrock Rovers posted that Noonan would be leaving at the end of the 2026 League of Ireland season but remains a Hoops player until then and "will play his part in the title run-in over the coming months".

Noonan will be out of contract with Shamrock Rovers at the end of the season. The Hoops will receive €180,000 in compensation following the move, as will the striker's previous club, St Patrick's Athletic.

Nottingham Forest Chief Football Officer, George Syrianos, said: "Michael is a player we, along with a number of other clubs, have followed closely for some time, so we're delighted he has chosen Nottingham Forest."

Noonan, a Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, scored 17 goals in two seasons in Tallaght Stadium and was part of the 2025 double-winning side.

He made headlines after becoming the youngest player to score in the UEFA Conference League after scoring Shamrock Rovers' winning goal away to Molde in February 2025 at the age of 16.
