Blues midfielder Marcelino Nunez has been released by the Chile squad to return to Town.
A statement on the Chilean FA’s website gives no suggestion of Nunez having suffered an injury: “The national team management reports that the player Marcelino Nunez (Ipswich Town) has been released from the call for personal reasons.”
The 26-year-old was an unused sub during Chile’s 4-2 to the US in St Louis in the early hours of yesterday morning having played the first 52 minutes La Roja were beaten 1-0 by Canada in Toronto on Sunday, his 34th cap.
Chile have one more friendly during this international break, against Mexico in Los Angeles next Tuesday.
