Rangers appointed the firm responsible for work at Leeds' Elland Road to carry out inspections at Ibrox.

Dudleys were recommended to Rangers by Leeds, having worked with the English club for 20 years on their stadium.

Rangers have ties with Leeds through Paraag Marathe who was involved in the US takeover at Ibrox, and is chairman at the Premier League club.

The San Francisco 49ers appointed Dudleys to carry out structural inspections at Ibrox ahead of proposed investment into the Glasgow club.

Andrew Cavenagh has previously outlined the ambition to redevelop Ibrox, with initial drawings for stadium expansion prepared.

He said previously: “There are different parts to it. Some of them are cosmetic, some of it is functional, some of it is how to increase revenue by changing general admission seats to hospitality. There’s a list of opportunities for that within the stadium.

“We’re getting closer to having a priority list for that. Then there’s stadium expansion, which is the most talked about. We have the actual proposals from architects and engineers.”

Dudleys were brought in to inspect the whole of Ibrox Stadium to comment on the condition and management of the stadium, as well as inspecting the training ground at Auchenhowie.

The firm provided information on where investment may be required and how to maintain the properties long into the future.

On the firm website, Dudleys explained: "When potential new investment discussions began around Rangers F.C., Dudleys were brought in by the San Francisco 49ers to carry out detailed structural inspections at the stadium and its training facilities.

"The project came through recommendations from Leeds FC from our work on Elland Road Stadium, with the client looking for an independent engineering assessment of one of football’s most iconic grounds.

"Our inspections took us throughout the entire stadium. We were on the roofs, inside the roof structures, beneath the stands and across the wider infrastructure surrounding the ground, reviewing everything from concealed steelwork and large-span trusses through to circulation areas and spectator facilities.

"The aim was to help the client understand how the stadium had been maintained over the years, where future investment may be needed and how the venue could last long into the future."
