Real Madrid star receives World Cup award

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé was this week at last handed his trophy for emerging as the top goalscorer at the 2026 World Cup.

Frontman Mbappé is of course fresh off nothing short of a historic summer in the colours of his native France. En route to Les Bleus being eliminated from the World Cup at the semi-final stage, the 27-year-old managed to find the net a remarkable 10 times.

This proved enough for Mbappé to establish himself as the outright leader in the all-time World Cup goalscoring charts.

Not only that, but it saw the explosive attacker clinch the award for the Golden Boot, two goals clear of Argentina icon Lionel Messi in 2nd.

And as alluded to above, on Thursday, Mbappé confirmed that he has finally received the coveted trophy from FIFA, in recognition of his exploits this summer.

Taking to his official Instagram account, the Real Madrid standout unveiled a photo of his 2026 World Cup Golden Boot prize:
