'It'll be something fun' - Leeds United star on facing teammate in Nations League clash

Two of Leeds United’s key figures are set to lock horns on the international stage

Leeds United star Gabriel Gudmundsson is up for the challenge of facing club teammate Tarik Muharemović in the Nations League.

The pair are key figures in Daniel Farke’s squad and have helped the Whites make a strong start to the Premier League season.

While the defenders are usually part of a cohesive backline, they will be on opposing sides on the international scene tonight (October 2).

Gudmundsson and his Sweden teammates will be locking horns with Bosnia & Herzegovina, who have become increasingly reliant on Muharemović.

Leeds United teammates set for international reunion

Via the official Leeds website, Gudmundsson said: “It'll be nice to see Tarik in Bosnia on Friday. We've had two good games here before traveling down. And I think Bosnia also had a good start, so it's going to be a tough game.

“We know that Bosnia is a very stable and decent team, they've shown that from the last games, and in the World Cup. They are difficult to beat, strong, strong players. It's going to be a fight.

“We're traveling down to Bosnia with confidence but also the knowledge that it's going to be a fight, and hopefully we can travel back with a positive result to put us in a good situation going into November. We're looking forward to the challenge.”

Post-match plan in place

Gudmundsson and Muharemović have already planned to swap shirts, although niceities will be far from the mind when they line up at Bilino Polje Stadium in Zenica.

Leeds and Sweden’s 27-year-old left-back said: “Of course it'll be nice to see Tarik, and hopefully a win over him will be even nicer to have, to chat about that. But it's fun. We talked about swapping shirts, it'll be something fun.”
