Brighton moved up to third in the Premier League table heading into the international break following a 1-1 draw with Leeds United, a 5-0 win at Coventry City and a 3-0 win over champions Arsenal in September.
Seagulls head coach Fabian Hürzeler was named manager of the month as a result, with Brighton winger Pascal Gross being named as player of the month.
Gross contributed with two goals and three assists in three Premier League matches in September, continuing his strong form since returning to Brighton from Borussia Dortmund at the start of 2026.
It also marks a unique situation where the player of the month winner is older than the manager of the month winner with Gross and Hürzeler aged 35 and 33 respectively.
Gross’ age is also highlighted by the fact that he is a former teammate with another Premier League manager, Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle.
Both Gross and Jaissle broke into professional football at German club Hoffenheim, where they were teammates. But with Gross only just breaking into the side as a teenager and Jaissle suffering an ACL injury at just 21, the pair didn’t feautre together on the pitch in a competitive match.
15 years later, Jaissle, who retired at the age of 25, still speaks highly of Gross and his longevity as the Brighton winger continues to deliver at the highest level.
The pair will reunite in the Premier League when Newcastle visit the Amex on November 29.
