Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola will hope to see his side build on their respectable start to the Premier League season when they face Manchester City on October 11.

The Reds have so far won two and drawn three matches in the league this term, making them one of five unbeaten sides along with the likes of City, Brentford and Leeds United.

Ahead of their game against the Citizens, it has emerged that Liverpool could have to pay a significant amount if they are to sign one of their transfer targets.

As reported by Football Insider, the Merseyside outfit will likely have to pay around £40 million to sign teenage sensation Gilberto Mora.

The report claims that Liverpool have identified the 17-year-old as a possible target as they look to bolster Iraola’s squad.

Mora currently plays for Mexican side Club Tijuana, having progressed from the club’s youth ranks.

He has now played more than 60 times for the club in all competitions, scoring 15 goals and registering three assists.

He made his senior international debut for Mexico in the summer 0f 2026, and has now made a total of 13 appearances for his country including four at the World Cup in North America earlier this summer.

Mora’s current contract with Tijuana is set to run until the end of the 2028/29 campaign, but it appears that the Reds could attempt to lure him to Anfield before then.

The report suggests that the Mexican side are set to demand a fee of at least £30 million for the attacking midfielder, although his eventual price tag could ultimately rise as high as £40 million.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are all also said to be interested in the teenager.
