Two English stars from AC Milan offered to Tottenham and several other clubs

Tottenham Hotspur entered the international break at rock bottom in the Premier League. They have no wins to show after five games and were beaten 3-2 at home by Aston Villa.

A lot has been discussed about the Lilywhites’ struggles in the final third, but it’s worth noting that they haven’t pulled up trees defensively either. Eight goals conceded in five league games leaves question marks on Tottenham’s defence, particularly centre-backs Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke not covering themselves in glory.

Furthermore, the midfield unit has lacked energy, intensity and quality to control games and create chances for the forwards. Big-money signings Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes have failed to hit the ground running in N17. As a result, the North Londoners are considering entering the market in January to add more reinforcements in different areas of the pitch.

AC Milan duo offered to Tottenham

According to a report from TEAMtalk, AC Milan are open to offers for Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Tottenham are one of many clubs to have been offered the chance to sign the English duo ahead of the January transfer window.

Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, both formerly of Chelsea, have entered the final year of their contracts at San Siro, with no renewal talks planned. That has opened the door to potential January exits. AC Milan are eager to do business on the experienced Englishmen as they look to create space in their squad and give themselves greater room to wiggle around in the January market.

The intermediaries have held talks with a lot of clubs about the availability of the Milan duo. Apart from Spurs, Newcastle United, Everton, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Sunderland and Fulham have all been contacted. The report adds that newly-promoted Coventry City boss Frank Lampard would be keen on the opportunity to reunite with Tomori and Loftus-Cheek, having managed them previously at Chelsea.

For Tottenham, though, the availability of experienced Premier League commodities on cut-price deals could prove tempting potential opportunities. Tomori, who can play both at centre-back and right-back, could provide competition for Pedro Porro, while Spurs might benefit from Loftus-Cheek’s versatility and energy in the middle of the park.

It remains to be seen what decision the key decision-makers in N17 take, but given Lampard’s previous working relationship with Tomori and Loftus-Cheek, it won’t be wrong to suggest Coventry City are favourites at the moment to sign the Milan outcasts.
