THE fundraiser to help Cherries legend Tommy Heffernan after he had a stroke has raised more than £2,000, as he continues his recovery.

Heffernan helped the club to two promotions in the 1980s under boss Harry Redknapp, and he had a stroke in August, which saw a fundraiser set up to aid him in his recovery.

That has affected the left side of his brain, which controls the motor centres and is responsible for speech.

His family was set to meet with his care team at the beginning of this month in Dublin to discuss his progress so far and what his recovery will look like, which will dictate what is needed to help support him.

The fundraiser, launched by Heffernan’s daughter Zoe, has raised £2,096 so far of a target of £6,500.

Donations have come from the likes of Richard Cooke, Sean O’Driscoll, Paul Morrell and Mark Redknapp, while Harry Redknapp has been in touch with Zoe and has sent his support.
