Lewis Hall has enjoyed a strong start to the 2026-27 season and recently signed a fresh Newcastle United contract.
Jeff Hendrick has questioned whether Lewis Hall will remain at Newcastle United for the length of his contract.
Toon fans celebrated when Hall committed his future to St James' Park last month. The 22-year-old penned a lucrative extension until 2031 - ending the persistent Manchester United speculation.
Hall had been linked with a move to Old Trafford all summer following an impressive 2025-26 campaign. However, after losing Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes, Newcastle sources were adamant that the left-back would be staying put.
A strong start to life under Matthias Jaissle earned Hall an England recall for the ongoing international break. He starred at left-back as the Three Lions brushed aside the Czech Republic on Tuesday.
Jeff Hendrick doubts Lewis Hall future
Speaking to Andy’s Bet Club, former Toon midfielder Hendrick named Hall as the second best left-back in the Premier League while also casting doubt over his recent contract extension. He said: “I think with the players they lost, keeping Lewis Hall was massive. For me, probably other than Ricciardo Calafiori, he's the best left-back in the league.
“It's no surprise that Man United obviously need a left-back, but it's no surprise that the big clubs are looking at him. He's only 22. It feels like he's been around for ages, and he's really, really good.
“That's the player I look at and really like. I don't know if he'll last the whole contract, because if he keeps consistency and is an 8/10 every game, the big clubs will always be there looking at him.
Lewis Hall on Newcastle United contract
Hall expressed his delight at penning a new deal once the news broke in September. He told the club website: “I'm absolutely delighted. It's a really proud moment. It's an absolute pleasure to play for this club and to represent the supporters. I know how much it means to them.
“The fanbase and the support we get here, whether it's at St. James’ Park or away, it's the best in the league in my opinion. To be able to bring joy to their faces, it's a big thing for me.
“I obviously have a family connection with the club, which is incredibly important to us all. One of the main reasons I play is to make my family proud, and I know how much it means to them to watch me playing for Newcastle United.
“It's a really good place to be. It's really pleasing with how we've started the season, especially with the new gaffer and coaching staff coming in, and I think we can go on to achieve really big things.”
