Napoli will part ways with Scott McTominay next summer, amid links to Aston Villa.

That’s according to tuttomercatoweb who reckon the Scot will depart the Serie A outfit who won’t want to miss out on a pay-day.

McTominay, who has been with Napoli since 2024, is due to be out of contract in the summer of 2028 meaning he could leave Campania for nothing.

The report says that, combined with the fact the former Manchester United midfielder will be 30 in December means he will ‘likely leave’ at the end of the current season.

It adds that a contract extension is unlikely, with McTominay claimed to be wanting €8 million a year, and that United and Villa ‘inquired’ about him in the summer.

TMW estimate McTominay, who inspired Napoli to win the Scudetto in 2025, would cost between €25-30m. McTominay has played with current Villa captain John McGinn on 63 occasions for Scotland.

Villa do have several options in central midfield, with Amadou Onana, Boubacar Kamara, Lamare Bogarde, Joao Gomes, Leon Goretzka and Ross Barkley all on the books. Of those only Barkley is set to be out of contract.

Bogarde and Goretzka are ‘up’ in 2028, albeit the latter has an option. Kamara and Gomes are contracted until 2030 and 2031 respectively.
