Fabian Hurzeler says he does not know how much potential his high-flying Albion team possess.

But he knows how they can find out.

The Seagulls are preparing for a hugely demanding run of fixtures when action resumes after the three-week international break.

That starts at Sunderland on Saturday with the first two games in the Conference League’s initial league phase and the next round of the Carabao Cup also looming large.

Albion went into the pause amid rave reviews after a 3-0 win over Arsenal and Hurzeler was asked how much potential he sees in his squad.

The Seagulls head coach told The Argus: “I talk a lot about basics, foundation, back to roots, and these things are always important.

“We need to understand every game, we have to start from point-zero to work hard, to get a foot into the game.

“And then we go game by game.

“We will have a lot of games after the international break.

“We have a good depth in the squad, which will be definitely important.

“I have a great staff around me.

“I think it's very important to keep focussing on the things you can control.

“We are not focussing on the outcomes. We are focussing on our process, focussing on performances, and therefore it's really important to go game by game to get the full potential out of this team.

“I don't know where we are at the moment, but we have to keep working hard and everyone has to keep working hard individually as well.”

Albion lead the Premier League in a range of attacking metrics including goals scored, shots on target and expected goals.

They are also joint top for clean sheets with three.

But their tally of ten points from five games is two fewer than they collected going into their previous European campaign in 2023-24.

Their build-up to the trip to Wearside includes a behind-closed-doors friendly after non-internationals were given some time off.
