Newcastle United receive huge Lewis Miley injury update after England squad withdrawal

Lewis Miley is expected to be fit for Newcastle United’s trip to Coventry City next Monday.

Toon fans feared the worst when the Stanley native pulled out of the England under-21s squad last week. Injuries had already begun to mount up at St James’ Park before the international break.

With Amar Dedic and Tino Livramento sidelined, Miley is also the natural option to deputise at right-back. He has also suffered several injuries - including a broken leg earlier this year - during his short career so far.

Lewis Miley injury not serious

But in a positive update, Miley’s fresh setback is not thought to be serious. Matthias Jaissle should have the 20-year-old available for selection when the Premier League campaign resumes.

The likes of Joelinton, Dan Burn and Nico Gonzalez should also be back after returning to training during the three-week hiatus. It remains to be seen whether Will Osula and Jacob Ramsey will be fit and available for the Coventry clash.

‘A true talent’ - Matthias Jaissle

Jaissle praised Miley during his official unveiling as Newcastle manager. He said: "First of all, we need to be careful. This young lad came back now from an injury. I don't want to give him a huge responsibility and pressure and you should also not give him that from outside.

"He has so much potential, we need to let him grow, develop naturally. He gets the full support but I am very much looking forward to seeing him 100 per cent fit and ready because of his qualities. He is a true talent."
