On deadline day during the last transfer window, Nicolas Tagliafico was confident that he would find a new club after reaching agreements with Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

Juventus wanted to sign him as a replacement for Juan Cabal, who appeared to be on his way to Atalanta. The Bianconeri therefore moved quickly to secure an agreement with Tagliafico and prepare for his arrival in Turin.

However, Atalanta did not complete the transfer for Cabal. As a result, Juventus could not proceed with its move for Tagliafico, while Atletico Madrid also failed to finalise an agreement for the defender.

Tagliafico consequently remained at Lyon, but the next transfer window could give him another opportunity to join one of the clubs that have been following him. Juventus still wants to be the team he joins.

Juventus maintains interest

The defender remains open to a move, and Tuttojuve says Juventus has not forgotten about him. The Bianconeri intend to pursue the transfer again during the next window.

Tagliafico is viewed as an experienced option who could strengthen the left side of the defence. Juventus believes his arrival would improve the squad, particularly if the club succeeds in moving Cabal out.

The Colombian remains outside Juventus’s plans for now, and the decision-makers at the Allianz Stadium will continue working to find him a new club. His departure would create the space required for Tagliafico to join.

Cabal remains decisive

Juventus’s interest in Tagliafico is still dependent on Cabal’s situation. The Bianconeri need to move the Colombian on before completing a deal for another left-back, as they did not have the space to register both players during the previous window.

If Cabal finds a new home, Juventus could reopen negotiations with Tagliafico and attempt to complete the transfer. The defender is reportedly willing to consider the move, which would help the Italian club’s efforts.

However, if Cabal remains at Juventus, the same problem will prevent the deal from happening again. Tagliafico may therefore have to wait until the club resolves the Colombian’s future before he can determine his next destination.
