**After what happened on deadline day, [Everton](https://sportwitness.co.uk/everton/) fans are probably wondering why Beto was allowed to leave on the same day.**
The striker never convinced everyone on the Blue side of Merseyside, but they would welcome him back with open arms at this point given Thierno Barry is now the only recognised striker in David Moyes’ squad.
Instead, he is living a life we can all be envious of over in Florence. The move marks a return to Italy for the striker, who previously played for Udinese.
That spell saw him score 22 goals and register three assists in 65 games, before joining Everton. His record for the Blues was 25 goals and three assists in 113 games.
**Everton changes**
-------------------
Now he’s looking to bag his first goal for his new club and believes he’s developed at Everton during his time there.
_“I’ve changed; when I was at Udine, I didn’t have much experience,”_ he told [Sky Sport.](https://www.gianlucadimarzio.com/news-calcio/fiorentina-beto-intervista-498003)
_“Now I feel calmer and more ‘ruthless’ in how I do things. I think Serie A is tougher now; before, it was more about defence and tactics. It’s becoming a beautiful league again.”_
He’s more than impressed by what he’s at Fiorentina so far. They spent big in the summer reshaping their squad after battling relegation last season.
The plan, led by Fabio Paratici, is to get Fiorentina back to the top of Italian football. That’s yet to happen as they sit 17th, just two points outside the bottom three. That saw Fabio Grosso sacked last month and replaced by Paolo Vanoli.
**Eye on the future**
---------------------
Beto is not concerned by any of that. He’s instead looking to the future, and the evolution of his new team.
_“We need goals, but not just mine. People always remind me, ‘I picked you for my Fantasy team,’ but I’m used to that,”_ he added.
_“I really like how the team is evolving; it’s becoming a real team. Pellegrino? I’m very happy for him; he welcomed me warmly. He listens carefully to what I tell him. He deserves these goals, but I don’t want to get left behind either.”_
The summer signing from Everton is yet to bag his first goal, but that’s not a concern either.
_“I just want to score, but if it’s a ‘Beto-style goal,’ even better,”_ he concluded.
_“I think everyone wants to reach the top. We don’t know if it will happen this season, but Fiorentina belongs at the top. And I’ll work to get there.”_
