Scotland captain Andy Robertson made history in the 2-0 Nations League win over North Macedonia in Skopje by becoming only the second player to reach a century of caps for his country.
Robertson, 32, put in a sterling performance in Skopje as goals from Kieron Bowie and John McGinn sealed a first victory for new head coach Sebastien Pocognoli. After the game, he was celebrated by his teammates and the travelling support for his outstanding service.
Following the game, head coach Pocognoli praised Robertson’s achievement, saying: “He was close to scoring tonight which should be a nice gift for himself and for us but he played a good game, always with a good energy and the desire to get a good result to make his 100th cup even more beautiful. He was happy with the performance and he got a fantastic standing ovation from the supporters, so it was a nice day for him.”
"It feels unbelievable," admitted Robertson. "To hit the 100 mark is pretty special. It's something that I feel as if I've been chasing forever. But since it kind of became close, I then really wanted to just get it over the line and make it happen. A hundred caps for your country is incredible. Not many people get to achieve that and I know how lucky I am to be able to be one of the ones to do that."
