Leeds star now the top transfer target for Champions League giants, it's a killer blow for…

Leeds United were able to avoid relegation to the Championship in their first season back in the Premier League earlier this year, and they have continued to build on that since.

The Whites had a strong summer transfer window as they brought in Harry Wilson, James Trafford, Tarik Muharemovic, Nico Elvedi, Michael Zetterer, Melvin Bard, and Jean-Matteo Bahoya to bolster Daniel Farke's squad.

Those signings, plus strong performances, have seen Leeds go unbeaten in their opening five games of the campaign, and they currently sit fifth as the teams prepare to return to action following the first international break.

Of those signings, none have hit the ground running more than defender Muharemovic, who has become a regular in Farke's back three after replacing Pascal Struijk, and has registered a goal and an assist alongside his top performances.

The Bosnia defender joined in a £34m deal from Serie A side Sassuolo, despite strong interest from a number of other clubs across Europe. But his performances in the Premier League have seen many sides continue to show an interest, despite him signing a deal that runs until 2031 at Elland Road.

One such side is Bayern Munich, with the Bundesliga giants planning an overhaul of their defence in 2027. Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah are the current first-choice centre-backs, but Kim Min-Jae and Hiroki Ito have struggled to establish themselves in Vincent Kompany's squad and are expected to be sold.

That has seen the German champions plot a potential move for Muharemovic in 2027, with TEAMtalk even reporting that he has been made their top target.

A January exit has been ruled out by Leeds, but a move next summer hasn't been entirely ruled out, with the Whites putting a £60m+ valuation on the defender. They don't want to sell, and don't plan to, but a big offer could force their hand, and Bayern are a team who are known for getting what they want more often than not.

Losing Muharemovic Could Be Killer Blow to Premier League Status

Muharemovic has been a phenomenal signing so far, and has already seen praise that has described him as one of the best left-sided centre backs in world football.

Bringing him in for £34m in today's game is a fairly small chunk of change, and it's a real coup considering the competition for his signature at the time. The plan will have been to have him for the long haul at Elland Road, with the 23-year-old likely to have had the defence built around him in years to come.

But with Bayern Munich sniffing, there may be nothing that Leeds can do. It would be a chance for the defender to play regular Champions League football and win trophies, and that's something that Leeds can't offer.

Should he leave, whether it be mid-season or next summer, it would be a killer blow to the squad and their hopes of staying in the Premier League for the long haul. Replacing him will be incredibly difficult, and it won't get easier to convince top stars to join if they're losing their best players.
