Blackburn Rovers are among the clubs to have been in talks with Hong Kong FC star William Mirwasser.

According to L’Equipe, the Championship side invited the 17-year-old to their training ground during the September international break in a bid to capture his signature.

The youngster has earned a reputation for being a promising upcoming talent, and he is attracting interest from a number of clubs.

However, he will be unable to move from Hong Kong until August of next year due to FIFA rules, as he will have to wait until he’s 18 to sign elsewhere.

But the defender is already focused on a move to European football, as he continues to impress with his performances in Asia.

Blackburn have earned a reputation for bringing through younger players, which could help them in their bid to sign the French teenager.

Blackburn are in talks to sign Mirwasser next summer, and they used the international break to bring him to the training ground in a bid to persuade him of a move.

However, the defender was also invited to the Everton training ground, with the Premier League side also keen on a deal for the 17-year-old.

It is expected that he will visit Strasbourg in the November international window, with the Ligue 1 side among the clubs competing for his signature.

It’s believed that he is now prioritising a move to European football, and he is keen to play in France at some point in his career.

And it’s understood that these visits to Blackburn and Everton have been to scope out the potential of completing a deal, and talking about the terms of a transfer.

Blackburn Rovers’ start to the season

Tony Mowbray made his return to Blackburn in the summer, taking over the first team squad for a second stint in charge.

The 62-year-old has built a reputation on giving younger players a chance, which could help Rovers to persuade Mirwasser to join the club.

The Championship side are 16th in the table after the opening eight games of the new season, having won two and drawn three for a total of nine points.

Next up for the Lancashire outfit is a home clash against Cardiff City on 10 October in a 3pm kick-off.

William Mirwasser transfer pursuit is promising for Blackburn

Blackburn will have a tough time convincing Mirwasser to join ahead of the likes of Everton and Strasbourg, but their ability to offer first team football could prove the key factor.

It’s a promising sign for their recruitment plans that they are doing what they can to sign such an exciting young talent.

Mowbray could also play a role in helping to bring him to Ewood Park, and it’s encouraging for the club that he was willing to travel to their training ground to scope out a possible deal.

But, ultimately, no decision is likely to be made for a number of months because of the fact Mirwasser can’t move anywhere until next August.
