Nottingham Forest are being tipped to launch a January swoop for Fenerbahce defender Archie Brown.

A quiet summer window saw five new faces added to Oliver Glasner’s squad as the Reds focused on quality over quantity. Xaver Schlager, Ousmane Diomande, Steven Benda, Liam Delap and Daniel Munoz all put pen to paper before the September deadline, while Gustavo Sa immediately headed on loan to sister club Olympiacos after joining from Famalicao.

Glasner turned down the chance to make further additions toward the end of the window, when Forest were unable to get some other deals over the line. The Austrian cited the lack of time to do due diligence on fresh targets as being behind his decision.

With that in mind, he has spoken about having time to prepare for the winter window. It is unlikely big changes will be made to the dressing room but a few tweaks are certainly possible.

Brown is a player the Reds have been keeping tabs on for the past year, according to reports in Turkey. Come the new year, they could step up that interest by submitting a bid for the left-back.

Turkish publication Sabah claims Forest are “preparing” to make an offer for the 24-year-old in January. However, it seems some negotiating will need to be done for a deal to be struck.

Fenerbahce are “reluctant” to let the former Derby County youngster leave midway through the season. If Brown expresses a desire to move on, the Turkish outfit would want at least €30 million (£25m) for him - roughly double the €15m (£12.6m) the Reds are said to be “willing to pay”.

‌

Sunderland and Atletico Madrid were linked with Brown prior to this summer’s transfer window. The former reportedly tried their luck with a €16m (£14m) bid but the full-back, who is under contract until 2028, ended up staying put.

Five games into the Premier League season, where do you think Nottingham Forest will finish in the table?

Brown came up through the youth ranks at West Bromwich Albion and Derby before joining Swiss side Lausanne-Sport. He also had a stint at Belgian outfit Gent before signing for Fenerbahce in the summer of 2025. So far this season, he has made 10 appearances in the league and Europe combined and has scored two goals.

Neco Williams has been first-choice left wing-back for Glasner. Forest also have Luca Netz on the books, although the 23-year-old has mostly been restricted to a substitutes’ role since joining in February.

‌

Fellow left-back Cuiabano is currently on loan at Vasco da Gama. His stint with the Brazilian side will officially come to an end in December, although they do have an option to sign him permanently.
