Wayne Bridge played with Frank Lampard for Chelsea and England.
WAYNE Bridge has backed former teammate and ‘leader’ Frank Lampard to keep Coventry City in the Premier League.
Bridge played with Lampard at Chelsea and on the international stage with England.
The full-back won the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup with the Blues and went to two World Cup’s with the Three Lions.
And Bridge believes Lampard’s leadership skills and mentality will serve Coventry well this season.
Speaking to Oddschecker, Bridge said: “Lampard was one of the hardest trainers. He was always the one to stay and do extra.
“He led by example. He didn’t really have to shout at me much.
“I remember him shouting at me once during a game when I’d had a few bad touches.
“He was really good at encouraging you and giving you a boost if you needed it.
“If he can instill his mentality into the team he’s got, they’ll do well.
“He lived and breathed football; he loves it.
“He has a chance [of keeping Coventry up].
“Out of the three that have come up, I’d say they’re (Coventry) the ones that will stay up.
“Their home form last year was really good, so they have to take that into this season.
“If he gets the players playing football and matching his work rate, they will stay up.”
