Alcohol Served to Fans in Stands at Women's Matches

Fans watching Ipswich Town Women’s matches at the JobServe Community Stadium in Colchester will be able to drink alcohol in view of the pitch following a trial in the WSL and WSL2 over the last two seasons.

The ban on drinking in sight of the pitch, which was introduced in 1985, covers the top five divisions of men’s football, but doesn’t impact the women’s game.

A Town statement reads: “As part of our continued efforts to enhance the matchday experience at home fixtures, alcoholic drinks will be available to purchase throughout the rest of the campaign, starting with the home fixture against Sunderland on Sunday 25th October.

“The decision comes following a successful Fan Choice trial across Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Super League 2 clubs during the past two seasons.

“Supporters will be able to drink in blocks E4 and E5, and the whole of the West Stand, while blocks E3 and E6 will remain alcohol free.”
