Leeds United should not get too attached to £34m star as another European giant ‘comes…

After what feels like an eternity, Leeds United finally resume their Premier League campaign this weekend after the lengthy international break.

On Saturday, the Whites take on Arsenal. I wouldn’t be surprised if Daniel Farke gave Ilia Gruev his first Premier League start of the season.

That is just a prediction. However, we all know for certain that unless he picks up an injury in preparation for the game this weekend, Tarik Muharemovic will be starting.

Our Bosnian centre-back has been phenomenal for us since his £34million move from Sassuolo. But another European giant has recently been linked to him.

Bayern Munich now ‘interested’ in Tarik Muharemovic

Last week, it was reported that Inter Milan and Barcelona were interested in Muharemovic.

And now this week, TEAMtalk have reported that Bayern Munich are also interested in the defender.

Their report claims that Bayern are becoming increasingly keen on Muharemovic. The German outfit are said to have listed him as their top target for next summer.

Last week, I said to take the reports regarding Muharemovic with a pretty sizeable pinch of salt. This report would also fall into that category.

I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if some of Europe’s top teams have liked what they have seen from Muharemovic so far.

But at the end of the day, he’s only played five Premier League games. If he keeps this form up this season, then yeah, I’d expect Leeds to have to fend off interest from him next summer.

For now, I think it’s all a little premature.

Leeds United supporters can’t get too attached to Tarik Muharemovic

It’s only been a couple of months, but I have absolutely loved everything I’ve seen from Muharemovic so far.

He’s already made a huge impression on me and the rest of our fanbase.

But I keep telling myself not to get too attached to the big Bosnian defender.

Whether you put much stock in these reports regarding Muharemovic or not, the sheer amount of transfer talk surrounding him is hard to ignore, and he’s only been at us for two minutes!

It’s unsettling, to say the least.

In all honesty, I don’t expect Muharemovic to be at us for very long whatsoever. They’re completley different positions; I get that. But I could easily envisage Muharemovic having a similar sort of career path to Raphinha if he keeps up the form he has displayed for us so far.

Muharemovic is still just 23. A season or two of playing in the Premier League would greatly further his development. At Leeds, there’s no doubt that he will be one of the first names on the teamsheet, and that’s exactly what he needs at this stage of his career.

Muharemovic’s deal at Leeds runs until 2031. But if you’re asking me right now, I’d be stunned if we still had him after the summer of 2028.

If he does move on, Muharemovic will surely be our club record sale, trumping the £55million we received for Raphinha back in 2022.
