The forward has since made more history already this term with a brace against Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup.
In doing so, he became only the second 16-year-old to score two goals in a single match for a Premier League side across all competitions.
The only previous player to achieve the feat was Wayne Rooney for Everton against Wrexham back in October 2002.
His appearance against Ipswich represents Dowman's only first-team start so far this season, though, with Arsenal open to a loan move if it aids his development.
