Journalist says Juventus signed Premier League star out of desperation

Juventus surprised many supporters by signing Nick Woltemade late in the previous transfer window after failing to secure Joshua Zirkzee and other targets.

The club needed another striker or attacking option after Randal Kolo Muani struggled for form at the start of the season. Juventus subsequently turned to Woltemade, hoping the German forward could help address their attacking concerns.

However, his early performances in black and white have raised questions about whether the club made the right decision. Although it is too early to reach a definitive conclusion, Woltemade still has plenty of opportunities to demonstrate his value across multiple competitions.

Juventus face questions over Woltemade signing

Juventus remain hopeful that Woltemade can establish himself and silence his critics. With numerous fixtures still to come, the forward has time to improve his performances and prove he deserves a regular role in the team.

Nevertheless, concerns remain about the circumstances surrounding his arrival. Rather than representing a carefully planned move, his signing has been described as a last-minute decision made after other targets proved difficult to secure.

This has fuelled questions about Juventus’ recruitment strategy and whether the club adequately addressed its need for a reliable centre forward.

Visnadi questions the circumstances of the transfer

Italian journalist Gianni Visnadi believes Juventus signed Woltemade out of desperation rather than as their preferred option. His assessment suggests that the club may need to revisit its attacking plans when the January transfer window opens.

Speaking via Tuttojuve, Visnadi said:

“Woltemade is a last-day loan, taken out of desperation, so you can’t be surprised if it doesn’t do who knows what. It wasn’t the first choice anyway. He arrived at the last minute, on loan, so much so that we are here thinking that Juventus should go and get a centre forward in January and maybe they will actually get him”.

The comments raise the possibility that Juventus could pursue another striker in January if Woltemade fails to meet expectations. However, his performances over the coming months will be important in determining whether the club considers further changes necessary.

For now, Woltemade has an opportunity to prove his doubters wrong and establish himself at Juventus.
