Juventus offered 20yo Tottenham star who wanted out in the summer, via intermediaries

Lucas Bergvall wanted to leave in the summer after Tottenham Hotspur bolstered their midfield department in the transfer window.

Regular minutes became a concern for the youngster after the big-money arrivals of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes. But the central midfielder ultimately decided to stay at White Hart Lane, surprising the fans by signing a contract extension until 2031.

Determined to retain his services, Spurs rejected several offers for the Swedish talent. Beyond the salary increase, the club and head coach Roberto De Zerbi also provided Lucas Bergvall with guarantees over regular game time and a clear pathway towards a more concrete role in the future. However, so far this season, the 20-year-old has made three Premier League appearances, of which only one has come as a starter.

Juventus offered chance to sign Lucas Bergvall

Recent reports suggest that there are several Serie A clubs who are ready to make a move for Bergvall in January. AC Milan, Inter Milan and Napoli are some of the clubs vying for his signature. This means the new contract has done little to quell speculation surrounding the Tottenham midfielder’s future.

Now, according to Italian outlet Tutto Juve, Bergvall has been offered to Juventus by intermediaries as a potential addition to their midfield. The Old Lady are in the market for a new midfielder and are showing interest in the Swede.

Juventus signed Pape Matar Sarr on a season-long loan from Spurs with a conditional obligation late in the summer transfer window. The Senegalese has endured a slow start to life in Turin due to a muscle injury, but his limited performances have impressed manager Luciano Spalletti. And with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario also arriving on loan from Tottenham, Spalletti is planning to raid the North London third time in six months.

Bergvall enjoyed a strong international break with Sweden, featuring in all four of their matches and playing 90 minutes in three of those games. The talented midfielder got much-needed minutes in his tank after not featuring as much as he would have liked to for the Lilywhites.

If his situation doesn’t change in the coming weeks and months at Tottenham, the Stockholm native could ask De Zerbi and the club for a temporary exit. However, whether he’d be interested in reuniting with Sarr and Vicario at Juventus would be interesting to watch. But the big question will be whether Tottenham would entertain such a move in January.
