Brighton brilliant young Spaniard goes from the start once again
It's back to back Premier League starts for Brighton's impressive new midfielder Chema Andres.
The Spanish under-21 international joined the Seagulls on transfer deadline day for around £16m from Stuttgart and made his top flight debut as a second half substitute in the 5-0 win at Coventry.
Chema then made his full Premier League debut as Albion enjoyed a memorable 3-0 home win against Arsenal just prior to the international break.
The former Real Madrid man more than justified his selection with an outstanding display and even scored the third goal with a far post header from a corner.
Hurzeler saw no reason to change and Chema is in the starting XI once again for the clash at Sunderland.
The 21-year-old is set to partner current Premier League Player of the month Pascal Gross at the hub of the midfield with Sweden international Yasin Ayari playing further forward in the No 10 role.
Schooled at Real Madrid
Chema - schooled at Real Madrid and played and trained alongside the likes of Luka Modrić - offers Brighton a genuine No 6.
He enjoys breaking up play and starting the attacks and offers protection in front of the Brighton back four.
His tactical and positional awareness has already been praised by head coach Fabian Hurzeler.
Chema is a level-headed and intelligent character and Albion certainly hope he will offer greater consistency than Carlos Baleba, who joined Manchester United for £70m last summer.
Chema is effectively Baleba's replacement. Baleba was excellent on his day but often erratic and Hurzeler will hope Chema will offer more stability throughout the campaign.
He's certainly started well and has learned from the very best.
Sunderland will offer a different test and playing alongside Gross will be so important for not only this match but for Chema's development at Brighton.
Brighton XI
Brighton resisted any changes to the XI who enjoyed a 3-0 win over Arsenal in their last Premier League match.
Lewis Dunk is back after a minor neck injury and is on the bench. Sweden midfielder Yasin Ayari has recovered from a bout of illness while on international duty.
Jack Hinshelwood, Evan Ferguson, Stefanos Tzimas, Zadok Yohanna, Femi Azeez, Mats Wieffer, Yankuba Minteh and Kaoru Mitoma are all out.
