Leeds ratings from the disappointed birthday boy to the roaming defender

Arsenal overwhelmed Leeds United in the final half-hour to claim a 2-1 victory which had not looked on the cards until then.

The visitors were excellent until then, taking a deserved lead through James Justin, but it provoked the champions into a comeback which maintained their 100 per cent start to the home season and ended Leeds’ unbeaten home record.

James Trafford – birthday boy got both hands to Arsenal's equaliser but could not keep it out having made a good low save not long before. Such is the keeper's lot 6

James Justin – showed how positively he interprets the role of outside centre-back by popping up in the area to score a composed goal but did not neglect his day job either. Sacrificed so Leeds could change shape late on 8

Nico Elvedi – led an excellent defensive effort by Leeds in the opening hour 8

Tarik Muharemovic – lost Kai Havertz for a rare first-half chance for Arsenal, but it was a rare blemish and he kept Bukayo Sak under wraps for large parts of the game 7

Jayden Bogle – got forward very effectively in the first hour, though Anton Stach could have done without him blocking his volley, but most of Arsenal's threat came down his side 7

Ethan Ampadu – energetic as ever in a high-quality midfield battle 7

Ao Tanaka – the odd loose moment, but showed why he is getting the regular nod as Ampadu's midfield partner 7

Gabriel Gudmundsson – got forward to good effect, including for Justin's goal 8

Anton Stach – limited impact in open play 6

Noah Okafor – Leeds worked him into some good positions on the counter-attack without making the most of them 6

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – not only held the ball up well but played some really nice passes with it 8

Substitutes:

Harry Wilson (for Okafor, 71) – played three different positions but unable to have much impact in either with the game having got away from Leeds 5

Brenden Aaronson (for Tanaka, 71) – like Wilson, he struggled to get into the game 5

Lukas Nmecha (for Justin, 79) – played as a centre-forward partner to Calvert-Lewin, but had little to work with 5

Jaka Bijol (for Elvedi, 86) – N/A

Jean-Matteo Bahoya (for Bogle, 86) – N/A

Not used: Longstaff, Zetterer, Bard, Gruev.
