The Bees took an early lead with defender Joseph Wheeler finding the net, before Isaac Holland doubled the advantage.

A second goal from Wheeler halfway through the first half and Jai Nwosu’s early second-half strike secured all three points.

Despite a quickfire second-half double from Justin Oguntolu, the Young Rams were unable to rescue a point from Brentford, who went down to 10 men following Luca Picotto’s dismissal five minutes after the break.

**Key Moments**

---------------

Derby found themselves behind after two minutes following Wheeler’s goal, with Holland firing past Alfie Halliwell in the 15th minute to extend the lead, before Wheeler scored his brace to give the home side a three-goal advantage at the break.

Danny Maye’s side, who played their first Premier League 2 game since September 18th against Burnley, recorded an impressive 3-1 Central League Cup victory against Stoke City on Tuesday afternoon.

The defeat, only their second of the season on the road in Premier League 2, provided a vital test for the Rams before their next Premier League 2 fixture against Birmingham City on Monday 19 October.

Brentford added a fourth goal in the 48th minute through Nwosu, before the home side were reduced to ten men just two minutes later, with Picotto shown a second yellow card.

Derby found themselves on the scoresheet with 25 minutes left of the game, as Oguntolu fired home a consolation effort, before netting his brace ten minutes later.

Oguntolu’s double continued the young forward’s impressive goalscoring form, with three goals in two Premier League 2 fixtures, following his equaliser in the subsequent defeat to Burnley in September.
