Ray Parlour
Ray Parlour admits Arsenal did not play very well during their match against Leeds United, although they won, and praised them for still getting it over the line despite the match being far from a good performance from them. The Gunners have had a good start to the season, but they were beaten before the international break, and fans were keen for them to get back to winning as soon as club football returned.
Their first opponent was an unbeaten Leeds United side, which has shown that it is one of the best teams in the league this season, and Parlour watched as they impressed at the Emirates in their quest to cause an upset. Their start to the match signalled that they were ready to get a win in North London, but Arsenal knows how to face and overcome challenges, which is why they are champions.
Parlour’s Assessment of the Win
It was not their best performance, but the Gunners managed to find a way to win the match, and Parlour said on Premier League Productions:
“Arsenal found a way. That is so important that when you don’t play great, then you find a way to win. That is what they did today. It is a big win for them after going 1-0 down and looking like they could drop points again. But they found a way to win.”

Resilience and Title Credentials
Parlour’s comments highlight the importance of grinding out results even when performances fall short, a trait often associated with title-winning sides. Arsenal’s ability to respond after going behind shows mental strength, and the win will boost confidence ahead of tougher fixtures.
Leeds United’s unbeaten start made them a dangerous opponent, but the Gunners’ experience told in the end. The match was a test of character, and Arsenal passed it, albeit not in the most convincing fashion. Fans will take heart from the three points, even if the display left room for improvement.
