Arsenal U18s win again while U21s draw with Sunderland

It was a busy day yesterday for the Arsenal academy following the return from the international break, with the club’s U21 and U18 sides both in action.

Arsenal U21s are still without a league victory this season following a 2-2 draw at home to Sunderland.

Trey Samuel-Ogunsuyi scored twice for Sunderland, with James Scanlon and Andre Harriman-Annous finding the net for Arsenal, the latter scoring a late equaliser having been set up by substitute Teshaun Murisa.

Sunderland were reduced to ten men for the closing stages as Ajibola Alese was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

Marli Salmon captained Arsenal and played almost an hour after returning from injury, while Emerson Nwaneri started the game on the right wing, with the 16-year-old having some good moments.

Mylo Bernard, who recently joined the club from Crystal Palace, made his first appearance at U21 level as a substitute.

The striker is just back from international duty, where he found the net for England U17s against Germany.

Meanwhile, Arsenal U18s extended their winning run to four games as they beat their Birmingham City counterparts 3-2 at home in the Premier League Cup.

Talented schoolboy forward Jaden Maghoma scored two penalties and defender Abraham Owusu-Gyasi also managed to get on the scoresheet for Josh Smith’s side.
