Bruno Guimaraes felt “unbelievable” after scoring his first home goal for Arsenal.
Newcastle United supporters were disappointed to see the former captain leave in August. Guimaraes spent four and a half years on Tyneside, captaining the Magpies to a first domestic trophy in 70 years.
He cried tears of joy at the full-time whistle and appeared wholly invested in Newcastle. However, over the summer, Guimaraes made it clear that he wants a new challenge to win the biggest trophies.
It has taken the Brazilian a few weeks to get up to speed but he showcased his talents with a stunning strike at Sunderland. Named on the bench again yesterday, Guimaraes completed a comeback win for Arsenal by drilling home into the bottom corner.
Newcastle United players react
The 28-year-old crowned the “special” win for Arsenal on social media. Sean Steur, Nick Woltemade, Joelinton, Lewis Miley, Malick Thiaw and Joe Willock liked the Instagram post.

‘I feel unbelievable’ - Bruno Guimaraes
In an immediate on-field reaction to TNT Sports, Guimaraes gave a subtle reference to his time at Newcastle. He said: “I feel unbelievable. We felt in the last game against Brighton, we were not at the right level. Today, the mentality was about bouncing back.
“To be honest, this is my first official game at home and I feel unbelievable to score an important goal (and get) three important points. I am very happy. When I’m on the pitch, I give my best to give a little headache for the manager.
“It's very important to score my first goal here (at the Emirates). We want to be champions again so three points are always welcome.
“I’ve been proving myself in the Premier League for the past five years. Of course, this is a new challenge for me. The most important thing for Bruno is to play my best football and I’m very happy for today.”
