Clarence Seedorf has landed his first managerial job in seven years by becoming the new head coach at Corinthians.

Seedorf, who won four Champions League titles at Ajax, Real Madrid and AC Milan, is eyed as one of football's greatest-ever midfielders.

He also won 87 caps for the Netherlands national team and played at the 1998 World Cup.

After his retirement in 2014, Seedorf managed Milan, Shenzhen FC and Deportivo La Coruna.

A spell at Cameroon followed but ended in 2019, with Brazilian outfit Corinthians the 50-year-old's next challenge.

Seedorf has signed a deal with the club until the end of next year.

Corinthians have slipped to 17th in the 2026 Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A table and are now in the relegation zone following a heavy defeat to league leaders Palmeiras on Sunday evening.

However, they won the Supercopa do Brasil earlier in the year with a 2-0 win over Flamengo.

Lingard set for new Corinthians manager

Many fans of English football will recognise one of the players in Jesse Lingard, who signed for the club in March.

The former Manchester United and West Ham United star moved to Brazil after terminating his contract with FC Seoul in South Korea.

Lingard was an FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League winner with United, and made 182 appearances in the Premier League.

Now at Corinthians, the 33-year-old attacking midfielder has scored two goals and assisted one other in 29 outings.

His first goal for the club, their winner against Barra in the Copa do Brasil, meant he became the only English scorer in the competition.

Lingard then found the target in a 2-0 Copa Libertadores victory over Penarol.

Corinthians last played on Wednesday night but were beaten 2-1 by Internacional in the league, with Lingard an unused substitute.

Now with Seedorf in charge, the seven-time Brazilian champions will hope to salvage their season before it ends in December.

"Taking on this challenge is an honour, but also a huge responsibility," their new head coach said upon his arrival.

"I am here to give my all and build a team that fights for every ball, every minute, every victory."
