Newcastle United face Coventry City at the Coventry Building Society Arena in their first Premier League game after the international break.

Newcastle have a few players returning from injury, while the Sky Blues have injury worries of their own. The Magpies have no suspensions, but Coventry striker Taiwo Awoniyi is banned for this match.

Here is the full team news.

Newcastle United

Nico González and Joelinton are expected to play a part in the game after recovering from concussion and thigh injuries respectively.

Both returned to first team training recently and may have been among the six first team players that played a behind-closed-doors friendly against Middlesbrough at the KNOX training ground last week, which ended 1-0 to the Teesiders.

Dan Burn is understood to be close to a return from an ankle injury, but this game may come too soon for him.

Will Osula is on the road to recovery from the foot injury he sustained in the first game against Liverpool and could be in contention against Coventry.

Amar Dedić is back in training after his hamstring injury and could be back in the squad tonight, but Ewen Jaouen won’t. He picked up a hamstring injury on international duty with France Under-21s which Matthias Jaissle confirmed will keep the goalkeeper out for about two months.

Jacob Ramsey has yet to recover from his hamstring injury and is unlikely to feature, but Anthony Elanga could return after recovering from his thigh problem.

Lewis Miley returned early from international duty with England Under-21s with a knock, but it is not expected to keep him out of tonight’s game.

Thigh injuries really are proving a problem for Newcastle players. Tino Livramento has one, too, and he is out for the foreseeable future.

Coventry City

Coventry are missing up to eight players, including one suspension.

Aurele Amenda and Josh Eccles have leg injuries. Amenda will be out for around 12 weeks while Eccles could be back at the end of the month, according to Frank Lampard.

Hadji Wright has a hamstring injury and won’t return until next month at the earliest, and Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Milan Van Ewijk face fitness tests after their hamstring problem.

Luke Woolfenden has a knee injury and might not be fit for this game, but Joel Latibeaudiere has been given a clean bill of health.

Taiwo Awoniyi is serving the last of a five-match suspension after a receiving a straight red card for violent conduct during Coventry’s 5-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion last month.
