Nico Gonzalez joined Newcastle United from Manchester City for £50million in August.
Nico Gonzalez hopes to leave Newcastle United with no regrets and to enjoy his time at the club.
For now, the Spaniard is adjusting his new surroundings following a £50million move from Manchester City. Gonzalez arrived as a marquee signing to help fill the void left by Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali.
He impressed immediately with a masterful debut performance against Tottenham Hotspur. A head injury in the 4-1 defeat to Leeds United frustrated Gonzalez’s bright start but he is now raring to go ahead of tonight’s trip to Coventry City.

‘When I leave…’ - Nico Gonzalez
Speaking to NUFC TV, the midfielder laughed when asked how he wants to be remembered at St James’ Park having only just arrived. Gonzalez then said: “When I leave, I hope I have left with no feeling of regret and that I’ve given everything for the club, fans and teammates.
“And I hope that I have enjoyed my time here. These are the two most important things for me in football - giving everything and enjoying.”
Nico Gonzalez on Matthias Jaissle
Gonzalez also discussed the “intense” football that Matthias Jaissle is aiming to instil in the Newcastle squad. This will be a change in pace to the possession-heavy style adopted at Man City.
“He has explained it really well to everyone,” Gonzalez added. “He wants direct football, intense. When we lose the ball he wants us to press high and steal the ball in high positions.
“That’s the main idea. I think he wants offensive football that fans can enjoy but us, as players, can also enjoy.”
