Football - Frank Lampard provides Coventry City injury update ahead of return to action against …

COVENTRY City boss Frank Lampard has confirmed Milan van Ewijk and Kaine Kesler-Hayden are both back in training with the Sky Blues ahead of the club’s game against Newcastle United.

The two full-backs have both recovered from recent injury lay-offs to give boss Lampard more options in defence.

Van Ewijk missed Coventry’s 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest through injury after starting the club’s first four Premier League games of the campaign.

Kesler-Hayden has not featured in any competition for the Sky Blues this season owing to a hamstring injury.

However, Lampard also confirmed Josh Eccles, Haji Wright, Aurele Amenda and Luke Woolfenden remain sidelined.

Lampard said: “Milan is back training, that’s good news. We hope he’ll be right if he comes through the next few days.

“Kaine is back training with us, which is good – he’s been out for longer.

“Josh isn’t back yet, he had a baby recently which is good news for him but he’ll still be a few more weeks potentially.

“Haji and Woolfy will be a bit longer but they’re working hard and they’re getting there.

“Haji won’t be back until November at best and I don’t want to put pressure on it because it’s an awkward injury.

“Aurele is working away, it’s up to a three-month injury so we’re working through that.”
