Brighton's next Conference League opponents receive 'historic' cup final boost

Brighton's next Uefa Conference League opponents Kauno Zalgiris received a huge boost ahead of Thursday night's Amex Stadium showdown.

Brighton qualified for the league phase of Europe's third tier competition as they beat Norwegian club Tromso in two-leg play-off last month.

The Seagulls kick-off against Lithuanian league leaders Kauno Zalgiris, who made history yesterday as they landed the Lithuanian Cup for the first time ever.

Zalgiris proved too strong for their rivals Minija in the final as goals from Leon Krekovic and Gabriel Debeljuh set them on path to victory.

Their Croatian manager Zeljko Sopic will now hope to land a historic domestic double.

Spoic's men top the table with 51 points from 28 matches and are point ahead of their nearest challengers Suduva with a game in hand.
