Former Sunderland, Manchester United and West Ham mentor could be considered for Hoops return
Celtic are reportedly ‘on alert’ for current Everton manager David Moyes, who may be forced out of Merseyside in the summer if the owners are successful in selling the club for over £1bn.
The former Manchester United, Sunderland and West Ham gaffer rejoined the Toffees last year following a previous 11-year stint. Everton currently sit fifth place in the English Premier League under Moyes’ stewardship - but off the field issues could cause him to leave the club. The 63-year old is out of contract in the summer and with owners the Friedkin Group looking to sell up, his future is up in the air.

Why are Celtic ‘on alert’ for Moyes?
According to prominent football journalist Alan Nixon, Everton owners selling up could cast a doubt over Moyes’ future and Celtic, among others could be waiting in the wings. He claims via Patreon: “It may take some time for Everton to find a new owner and that causes some big football problems.
“Boss David Moyes is out of contract in the summer. That may attract a buyer who has their own boss in mind, but it makes his exit almost certain in the next few months. That will put rivals on alert for Moyes, with Celtic long term admirers. He is currently one of the top paid managers around but could move with no compensation next summer.”

Why is Moyes’ Everton future uncertain?
He added: “Everton’s owners want over £1 billion for the club - in a deal that would double their cash in two years. The Friedkin Group confirmed they are in the market for selling up - as revealed here first three weeks ago. Now insiders confirm that the asking price is TEN FIGURES which would mean a huge profit on the Toffees investment by the Americans.
“TFG spent over £600 million plus other costs to tidy up the club and have it in a state to be sold on.However the price may be too much for many looking for a team to buy. Arab cash seems to he a dried up and British based Amanda Staveley’s group are not showing interest.”
