Emi Buendía is excited for what he hopes will be another special European night at Villa Park, as Aston Villa prepare to take on Fenerbahçe.

Unai Emery’s men entertain the Turkish outfit on Wednesday (ko 8pm), in what is their first home UEFA Champions League outing of the season.

And, with European football returning to B6, the midfielder is looking to call on the experiences of the 2024/25 season to enjoy a “great night”.

Speaking to VillaTV, he said: “I think the greatest competition at club level. Back at Villa Park, we had experience two years ago.

“We worked to be back last season, so now it’s also like a present for our fans, our supporters.

“Hopefully, we can enjoy together a great night, and enjoy this moment.”

With Villa Park looking slightly different now to when it last hosted European football, Buendía discussed the challenges of playing in front of just three stands of supporters.

The 29-year-old did, however, praise The Holte End and the wider Villa faithful for their passionate, unwavering support, and how this gives he and his teammates the greatest chance of success on matchday.

He added: “It’s a lot different, of course, because we felt always the crowd behind us, but it’s an improvement for the club.

“It’s going to get the club in a better level, so we have to adapt as quick as possible, but we know the rest of the fans are supporting like always.

“We have The Holte End always pushing for us, so we’re very happy with the rest of the fans, because they are Aston Villa.”
