Randal Kolo Muani’s performance improved after Nick Woltemade came on during Juventus’ 1-1 draw against Cagliari, with the Frenchman benefiting from the German’s presence in attack. Their partnership helped the Bianconeri become more dangerous in the second half, and Kolo Muani acknowledged that the team created more opportunities once Woltemade joined him on the pitch.

Kolo Muani started the match but struggled to trouble the hosts during the opening period. It was another frustrating performance for the Frenchman, who found it difficult to make his presence felt as Juventus searched for a breakthrough. His lack of influence was particularly costly because Cagliari managed to take the lead in the first half, putting the visitors under pressure to respond.

Juventus could not afford to drop points in a match they had expected to win, especially with their ambitions of competing for the Scudetto and securing a top four finish. However, they struggled to find a way through Cagliari’s defence before the break, leaving Luciano Spalletti with decisions to make at half-time.

Woltemade helps Juventus improve in attack

Spalletti made changes in the second half, and the introduction of Woltemade helped transform Juventus’ attacking play. The German offered Kolo Muani greater support in the final third, allowing the Frenchman to find more space and become more involved in dangerous situations. The improved connection between the two attackers gave Juventus a better platform to push for an equaliser.

With Woltemade on the pitch, Kolo Muani was able to operate more effectively, and the Bianconeri began creating chances with greater regularity. Their increased threat eventually helped Juventus get back into the match, although they could not find a winner despite their improved performance.

The visitors created several opportunities during the closing stages, and their attacking display suggested they might have scored more than once after the changes. However, their inability to convert those chances meant they had to settle for a draw.

Kolo Muani explains the difference

Kolo Muani recognised that Juventus needed to get the ball into the penalty area more often and make better use of their attacking options. Speaking via Football Italia, he explained how the manager’s half-time instructions and Woltemade’s arrival helped the team improve.

“The coach said at half-time that we have a lot of the ball and needed to get it into the area with crosses, as there were bodies in the box, so when Woltemade came on there were more occasions and it was much better than the first half, but we can still do better.”
